The Minister at Prairie View

As the Minister Farrakhan approached the podium everyone in the audience stood up. I took some notes as he spoke, his words are not verbatim but you can get the idea of what he talked about. The Minister talked about how everyone in the world is complaining about jobs and justice. He went back to past presidents and reminded the crowd about how people have always complained about jobs and justice and should not count on the President to fix it for them. This year, this president nothing is different. He reminded people that the slaves built many buildings and we as blacks still have the ability to still do the same. We have become lazy and think things are to be given to us. We focus on degrees and education, we as a people are natural builders. He talked about the growing power of the land you are sitting on. If you are not sitting on some land then you need to buy some land! Use the land to reproduce. He talked from the bible which surprised me a little. He showed how people took the

Why Not?

In my travels now of meet and greets people ask me am I married? No Have I ever been married? No, marriage is sacred to me and I only want to do it once. Have I ever been engaged? Yes What happened? I had marriage/commitment phobia and was a runner, as soon as I get the ring I am looking for the exit door. Like the run away bride, I was the run away engagement woman. Last year I was thinking of marriage and all my close friends and family laughed, shook their head and said not you. I was so serious but they know about my commitment phobia, and me being a runner. The other problem was the woman the man knew was "my Representative." No one knew the real me, that bothered me. Why would I marry someone who does not know the whole, real me, nor took the time to know the real me? Not going to work. A spiritual soul connection was missing also. Now, some may laugh again at me, there comes a time in your life when you think about partnership. I now want the commitment, sharing your l

A Well Oiled Machine at Prairie View

Ok let me paint the picture when you first get to the event at Prairie View where Minister Farrakhan was speaking. There is a line around the front of the building, nothing but women. So we come to the line UHN and I, we ask "What's going on?" The young women proceed to tell us this is the women only line. We say "Wow, Where are the men?" A young lady says'"The men have their own line and can't stand in line with us and they are already inside." So us being UHN, we want to investigate. Now the thoughts that go through your mind in this divided line is, when we get in will we still be divide, will we be separated from the people we came with, our boyfriends, homeboy, or classmate once inside? Well we go to the front of the line and the sisters are handling their business. The women are like the military. They don't won't to hear your story, stand in line and wait your turn! I was amazed at the order! They pushed you back and had total co

Recycle

We only have one planet, people let's recycle!!! Plant trees! We need oxygen for our over populated world. I recycle and I ask you all to recycle with me. I even printed my novels on recycled paper. Save our planet, we need to be green for a reason!!

Love Yourself : Lying for a Living

This book has a lot of sex in it, almost every chapter, but the whole point is women deal with stuff in relationships that we should not. We allow men to lie in our face behind our back. He makes excuses that sound good because it's what the woman wants to hear. The man knows what you want to hear . Especially if he is a professional liar. Just stop it. The woman or women in this book are intelligent but once you take out the love for self a person makes dumb decisions. Women we hope all things, endure all things, even when we know better. Women we know a man is not good for you or good to you, you have to first be good to yourself . Know your wealth and he will too. Once you truly love yourself and first be honest with yourself- you will realize that he is not for you. It does not matter how good the sex is, because all you will be is "Sex and a Sandwich" which is a poem I wrote that will be in my next poetry book. Lying for a Living shows a weak woman caught up in sex

Incest: Family Secrets

The essence of the book is to make people aware that "what stays in this house" needs to come out of this house! As long as we sweep problems under the rug, the more problems fester. The more we continue to pass a cycle of incest, molestation, lies, and secrets from us to our children we never free our family. Cycles jump from one generation to the next. You hear family members say "Don't tell no-body", "Man it's so many demons in this family, I can't even begin to let them out"! No we need to begin a dialogue to get those demons from your past! We have to share what secrets we know. Lack of communication and secrets will have free reign to roam and jump from family to family within a family unit. The secrets you keep will take you to your grave. You are not taking them to your grave after you're dead and gone, guess what? Those secrets you knew will be compiled with more lies and begin to ride some other family member's back long after

Empowerment

First I want to thank Kim from Snap Sistaz for having me at the event! I was a vendor there with my novels and my coffee. There were many vendors in the house, all home based business women! Entrepreneurial women, that alone would make you snap! A fellow blogger was in the house Ms.Vernetta of "Women Are Game Changers". Feel free to check out her blog as well. The conference started out slow because of the time change. In the meantime of the attendees and guest speakers showing up, it gave us time to mingle and fellowship. It's a small world, most of us be it speaker, guest, or vendor was informed about the event through sharing. Someone knew someone who could add to the Empowerment of Women. It was not just a black or white thing it was a strong woman theme! The Author of Chemical Suicide Toni Hickman was a speaker. Toni shared her life and story about how she came about writing her book. The cutest thing that brought attention to her was the fact that she was wearing h
